Maximum Damage to the Maximum City
What appeared initially to be a gangwar turned out to be a terror attack soon after. I was studying at around 10 PM when a message from my friend startled me. "Dont step out, take care, watch the news."
Gosh! I was horrified on seeing the footage from IBNLIVE.COM and a mixed flow of emotions flowed through my mind. Why Again? We as normal people would never judge why these terrorists do such idiotic and henious acts of violence and terror.
Taj has been one of my favourite places in Mumbai and the Gateway of India is clearly the most distinct landmark of this Maximum City. It is very tragic and shocking for me as well as all mumbaikars that some groups of weak impotent terrorists have tried once again to diminsh the Spirit of Mumbai. It was one after another which started by Gunfire at Leopold Cafe followed by Firing at V.T. Station, Blasts at Taj Mahal, Oberoi Hotel, Ramada Plaza Juhu, BP Petrol Pump blast, Attack at Nariman House, Taxi Blasts at Ville Parle and Mazgaon Dock areas.
The most shocking news what appeared to me was the deaths of Brave Mumbaikars the ATS Chief Hemant Karkare, Addl Commsr Ashok Kamte and the Encounter Specialist Vijay Salaskar in the line of duty. Also I wonder how can they just highjack a police jeep and run at large killing people all over in the city.
If I personally can be scared by mere thoughts of my friend not picking up his cell phone for the night, imagine the kin of the dead or the trapped or the ones who are held hostage. We didn't sleep for the night and just watched ibnlive.com throught for any news possible. There were blogs and IMs being passed, links for fresh pictures being shared and phone calls from every corner of the earth asking for taking care and inquiring any incidents. I woke up to a shocking news of the death of my cousin's friend whom I happened to meet some time back at the Leopold Cafe last night. I didn't even imagine this in my wildest dreams that a person I knew can be killed in such a horrific manner.
In my view there has to be a very tough and merciless action against these terrorists so that even their souls shiver before thinking an attack like this.
Tough times makes tough people. I believe and pray that all the hostages would be freed safely and Taj can once again try and restore its lost glory.
